The Global Learning Village has taken a leadership position in its relationships with business. It has adopted the view that business has paid its taxes. Instead of going cap in hand, the GLV model is one of securing an enlightened relationship. This has led to successful financial sponsorships and long term relationships sharing important skills and expertise.
The Global Learning Village defied the traditional criminal justice response to areas of disadvantage that focused on symptoms rather than causes and often delivered a bigger police station or grander court house. Instead, it championed a preventative model, providing computer access to connect the disconnected to the Internet and a network that has blossomed into 400 organisations from neighbourhood houses and skills shops to TAFE colleges and sandstone universities delivering access to mentoring for homework, lifelong learning, jobs and business development.
