The Global Learning Village has achieved international acclaim through its strong commitment to education, community development, social inclusion, innovation and enterprise. Pioneered in 1999, it provided the vision, plan and strategy and brokered the key partnerships to transform Broadmeadows, a suburb long regarded as the end of the line into a community recognised internationally for its commitment to lifelong learning. As the model expanded, Hume has evolved into a city devoted to this purpose.
The integrated GLV strategy provides the opportunity for Australia and other countries to commit to become a country devoted to lifelong learning with its benefits for economic development, community building and social inclusion. The delivery of government services in a more efficient manner would cut duplication and overlap and save tens of millions of dollars.
